How do I become a participant in the In-Person Animated Storytelling Groups?
You must be 15-24 years old and a NYC resident to participate. You can join a cycle at ANY time. It doesn't matter if you missed the week(s) before or if it is the last day of the cycle. You are always welcome to join. Just show up! The maximum number of participants per group is 12. Make sure you arrive early or on time to secure a spot, as we operate on a first-come-first-served basis.
What do I need to bring to the group?
Just YOU!
Do I need any artistic skill to participate?
Absolutely not! There are so many ways you can contribute to the group. Most importantly of all, we want to hear your ideas!
Where are the groups located?
Groups are located at Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) sites in all five boroughs! You can find the address and schedule for each group here.
When do the groups run?
Groups run on 6 session cycles. All in-person groups take place from 4:00-5:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, depending on the location. You can find the full program schedule here.
How many people can come to a group?
Each group is limited to 12 participants on a first-come-first-served basis.
What if I come to a group with friends but there is only room for some of us to join?
Each group has 12 spots available and they are given to participants on a first-come-first-served basis. If a group shows up and there are more people than there are spots left in the group, it will be up to you and your party to determine who will stay for the session.
What happens if I come late?
Each group will begin at 4:00pm and close at 4:15pm. If you arrive after 4:15pm, you will not be able to join and will be asked to return the following week on time.
What happens at the end of a cycle?
Each cycle consists of 12 weekly groups. On the last day of a cycle, there is a public screening of your film. You can invite friends and family to join the group to celebrate your accomplishment.
If you are present on the last day of a cycle, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. No matter how many groups you joined within a cycle, you will receive an email containing a digital Certificate of Completion, a link to your final film, and information on future programming, events, and other opportunities.
A new cycle may begin the following week at the same location or at another one of our locations. Be sure to follow the program schedule here.
Incentives Payment
How much will I get paid for each group?
You will receive $15 for each session. You must stay for the entire group in order to receive your incentive.
How will I get paid?
The TAP staff will distribute a TD Bank gift card with the payment already loaded on it. The payment will only be distributed at the end of the group at 5:30pm.
How do I activate and use my card?
Activation instructions are on the front of the card. Your card can be used where most debit cards are accepted.
